Little Mozarts Piano: Music for Little Mozarts is a premier pianoand music program published by Alfred to encourage a love for music in young children, ages 4-6, and to help them begin learning to play piano. Classes help develop singing and listening skills while imparting an appreciation for many musical styles!
Kindermusik: Classes are for age newborn - age 7. Classes help develop early literacy and language skills, acquire reasoning and early math skills, and cultivates a lifelong love of music. Parent & Tot: This fun class is for children age 2-3 along with Mom or Dad. This is a great introduction to dancing for children just developing their coordination. The teacher guides the parent/tot team in a way that makes discovering movement, balance and listening skills easy and fun. This class is an excellent first group activity. This is a 30 minute class.
Pre-Ballet: This class is for ages 3-4. It is an introduction to ballet. The primary goal is to foster a love of movement. The creative component is quite large. Several fun or special activities happen in each class. For example, a ribbon or maraca dance at the end can facilitate the dancer’s own physical expression. Taking part in dancing out a narrative helps children to understand that dancing is expression. It is a means of communicating feelings and actions. The vocabulary covered in this class are all steps which a 3-4 year old can master and build self-confidence.
Tumbling: This class is for students with little or no tumbling experience. Class is designed to help categorize the fundamental tumbling skills. You will learn things such as back bends,cartwheels, somersaults, etc. This class provides the basics for all tumbling skills. This class is also featured in our optional performances.
Ballet: Classes include barre and center floor work. Ballet is the foundation for several different types of dance. In this class each dancer will focus on turn out, discipline, balance, grace, coordination, and most importantly, confidence. With the knowledge from the exercises taught in ballet, a dancer can and will use these techniques in other forms of dance.
Tap: This class is all about making music with your feet. Dancers will learn basic steps such as heel drops, shuffles, time steps, etc.
Jazz: This class is the ever evolving dance form full of rhythm and syncopation. During class you will be taught isolations of the head, shoulders, ribcage, feet and arms and encourage individual expression and the development of personal style. The class will include across the floor, barre work, while dancing to the music of today together with the classical jazz of yesterday.
Lyrical/Modern: This class is a combination of ballet and jazz. Lyrical is a very expressive type of dance. Dancers use emotion and passion to tell a story while dancing to the music. Lyrical uses techniques from ballet, and at the same time showcases a strong interpretation of the music selection as it does in jazz.
Hip Hop: Merging styles from funk, street jazz, pop 'n lock, and even breakdance. This type of class is very similiar to what you see in music videos. They dance to the latest rap, hip-hop, or R&B music. The dress code in this class is different then all other classes. The students are free to wear loose dance clothing (jogging pants, loose shirts) that allows them freedom of movement. They are allowed to wear tennis shoes, but they must be clean. They need to wear different shoes to class and change when they get to the studio.
Poms: This class uses sharp, precise movements to usually a fast tempo style of music. Poms emphasizes uniformity and utilization of pom pons for maximum visual effect. In class each week, the dancers work on jumps, leaps, turns, motions and sharpness.
Jumps/Turns: This class is designed to increase your flexibility, improve your jumps and turns, and is combined with conditioning exercises to increase your endurance. This class is ideal for dancers wanting to learn and perfect new jumps and turns.
Musical Theatre: Musical theatre is a form of theatre combining music, songs, spoken dialogue, and dance. The emotional content of the piece – humor, pathos, love, anger – as well as the story itself, is communicated through the words, music, movement and technical aspects of the entertainment as an integrated whole. Musical theatre works, usually referred to as musicals, are performed around the world. Some musicals include: Legally Blonde, Rent, Lion King, and 42nd Street.
